have reserved a block of rooms at the Salishan
Spa & Golf Resort in Gleneden Beach, Oregon, for our participants.
We are sure you will enjoy your stay there. And all our meeting and banquet
rooms are right at the Resort, only a short walk from your room.

Wednesdays. They answer from 8am to 8pm Pacific time.

booking is not currently available for groups (the system will
tell you our dates are sold out, because they are blocked out for us).

Reservations
requests received after that will be accepted on a space and rate availability
basis. For best selection we strongly recommend you book EARLY (we
have sold out our room block the last 4 years).
Salishan
Resort has agreed to the following special nightly room rates for our

All room rates are based upon single or double occupancy and are quoted
exclusive of applicable state and local taxes, currently 7%. Each additional
adult (e.g. 3rd person) is $20/night. There is also a $9.50
per room/per night resort service fee. This fee is in
addition
to the room rate and tax. Included in this fee are several amenities:
local telephone calls, 18-hole putting course, golf greens fee discount,
preferred tee times, fitness center, in-room Starbucks coffee, private
access to beach.
If you wish to extend your visit to the Oregon coast, you are welcome to
arrive at Salishan Resort before October 2 and/or stay after the Symposium
ends. Our group rates will be offered for 2 nights prior and 2 nights after
the
meeting nights of Oct. 2-5, subject to availability.
FYI this is generally a popular time of year at the Oregon beach.
Salishan charges a 72-hour
cancellation fee of $75 and an early check-out fee of $25. A deposit
equal to one night's stay or a credit card is required to hold a reservation.
Those who wish to share a room may set up separate accounts with
the hotel so that each individual can pay his/her half.
A deposit
equal to one night’s stay is required to hold a room
reservation, and upon check-in will be applied to the first or final
night of the reserved stay. The deposit is refundable if notice is received
at least 5 days prior to arrival and a cancellation number is obtained.
Check in time is 4:30pm and check out time is 12:00 noon.
TRAVEL
You will need to fly into Portland International
Airport (PDX); Salishan Resort is located on the coast, about 3 miles
south of Lincoln City; this is about a 3-hour drive from the airport. Cars
or vans with drivers may be reserved but
they
are quite
expensive.
You may wish to rent a car to drive yourself for flexibility and sightseeing
(driving
directions).
AIRPORT BUS
The Symposium will organize one bus that will leave
the airport at 2:00pm Thursday afternoon (arriving around 5:00pm);
the bus will leave Salishan to return to the
airport
on Monday, departing Salishan at 9am and arriving at the airport
around noon. The cost of a bus ticket is $40 one-way or $60 round-trip.
You may reserve & pay for your bus ticket(s) online.
BEFORE AND AFTER THE MEETING
It may be more convenient for you to spend
the nights of Oct. 1 and/or Oct. 6 in Portland. Many Portland
hotels offer
special OHSU rates. Please be sure to mention your affiliation with
OHSU when making inquiries.
There is light-rail from the airport to downtown Portland (MAX
Red Line), in addition to the usual taxi's and hotel shuttles,
etc..
WEATHER
The weather at the Oregon coast during October is pleasant but cool
(average high 61F/16C, average low 45F/7C), and it will probably rain
some (average 5" rain in the month of October). We recommend you
bring a light jacket for days and something warm for evenings, as well
as
rain gear just in case.
If you plan to come on the hike, be sure to bring suitable hiking shoes and
outer gear.

ALTERNATE
HOTELS
If our room block at Salishan Resort sell outs (and it normally does), they
will take names for a waiting list. We recommend getting on the Salishan waiting
list, but also making a back-up reservation at an alternate hotel in Lincoln
City to make sure you are covered. You may be able to stay some of the nights
at Salishan but not all. There are many lodging options in Lincoln City; here
we list only a few that are closest to Salishan. Please note that while they
may seem close enough to walk, there is no sidewalk on the busy highway and
walking is really not an option. If you won't have a car, taxi service is available.
